In a significant development, Yevheniya Sidelnikova, the director of LLC "AKOPTER", has been detained by the High Anti-Corruption Court. Sidelnikova is accused of committing offenses under various articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including embezzlement and obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The corruption case involves Sidelnikova, along with Alexei Kuznetsov, Sergei Gaidai, and Andrei Yurchenko. The allegations centre around embezzlement through overpriced military drone contracts and impeding the lawful activities of Ukraine's military.

The misuse of defense procurement funds, particularly in contracts related to military drones, has been a critical concern. Overpricing and fraudulent arrangements in these contracts have reportedly led to significant financial losses for the state and hampered the operational capabilities of the Ukrainian military.

The case underscores ongoing efforts by Ukrainian authorities to combat corruption at high levels within military procurement, reflecting broader challenges in governance during wartime. The exact details of the scheme and evidence are under investigation, with anti-corruption bodies actively pursuing accountability to restore integrity in defense operations.

NABU and SAP have exposed corruption involving the procurement of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, with the scheme involving state contracts at inflated prices.

If Sidelnikova posts bail, she is subject to several conditions. She is not allowed to leave the territory of Kyiv and the region without permission, and she must refrain from communicating with certain individuals specified in the decision of the investigative judge. Sidelnikova is also required to inform the investigator, prosecutor, or court about any change of her place of residence and/or work. She must surrender her passport for foreign travel, wear an electronic monitoring device, and appear before the investigator, prosecutor, investigative judge, and court upon each request.

Sergei Gaidai, Chairman of Mukachevo Regional State Administration and former Chairman of Luhansk Regional State Administration, has been chosen for arrest with a bail set at 10 million UAH. MP Alexei Kuznetsov was sent to jail for 60 days with a possible 8 million UAH bail. Sidelnikova is a suspect in the case of purchasing EW and UAVs, and her bail amount for release is over 2 million UAH.

This case serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against corruption in Ukraine, particularly within the military procurement sector. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the exposure of a bribery case involving a parliamentarian, regional and city administrations heads, and National Guard servicemen on August 2. The pursuit of justice and accountability remains a crucial step towards restoring public trust and ensuring the effectiveness of Ukraine's defense capabilities.
