Suspect under investigation for a stabbing murder in Daegu, allegedly targeting an individual they were accused of stalking, charged with a revenge killing
In the heart of South Korea, on the fateful day of June 10, 2025, a chilling story unfolded in Daegu. The identity of the fiendish perpetrator was soon revealed to be Yoon Jung-woo, a 48-year-old man with a twisted history.
Yoon was arrested and charged with the heinous crime of retaliatory murder, following a tragic stabbing incident. This despicable act left a woman in her 50s laying lifeless, a victim of Yoon's relentless stalking and threats. It was this very victim who had previously filed a stalking complaint against Yoon, a complaint that police believe ignited his thirst for revenge.
In the month leading up to the horrifying event, Yoon had been under investigation for threatening the same woman with a knife. Despite the alarming evidence, a detention warrant was rather inexplicably denied by the authorities. As a preventative measure, a CCTV camera was installed near the victim's residence.
With his life on the line, Yoon managed to evade capture for four days, holing up in a mountain nearby a container storage facility in Jochiwon-eup, Sejong. Eventually, he was apprehended and his charges were upgraded from plain murder to retaliatory murder. This more sinister classification carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
