Suspect in Charlie Kirk's homicide captured on video leaping from building, traversing college campus
In a shocking turn of events, Utah Valley University campus was the scene of a tragic incident on Wednesday. Political activist Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on campus.
During a press conference held to address the incident, Utah Governor Cox announced his plans to pursue the death penalty for the suspect, should he be found guilty. The press conference was attended by several high-ranking officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls, Lt. Gov. Deidre M. Henderson, and Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason.
The suspect in this case is identified as Tyler James Robinson, a 22-year-old electrician apprentice. Robinson has been charged with murder and other offenses, and it is alleged that he acted for political motives.
The incident was captured on surveillance cameras. The footage shows Robinson jumping from a building on the campus. After the shots were fired, the suspect moved to the far right corner and climbed to the edge of the building. He was then seen on a roof on campus, across from the quad, before jumping.
As Robinson moved across the Utah Valley University campus, he left palm impressions and a shoe imprint as he moved across the grass and parking lot. The high-powered rifle used in the shooting was found in the wooded area where the suspect moved into.
Commissioner Beau Mason reviewed surveillance footage and still images of a person of interest during the press conference. He referred to the suspect as an "evil human being." A video showing the suspect in Kirk's murder was presented at the press conference.
Robinson is described as wearing Converse tennis shoes, a black t-shirt with an American Flag and eagle, a baseball cap with a triangle on it, and sunglasses. The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
