Suspect in Charlie Kirk kill plot requests peaceful surrender

In a shocking turn of events, the alleged assassin of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, has been arrested and indicted. The news conference announcing Robinson's arrest was held by Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby on Wednesday.

The rifle used in the assassination, which took place on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University, has been seized by authorities. Robinson, aware that he could not evade capture after images of his face were publicized and the rifle was seized, agreed to turn himself in under the condition that the surrender was carried out peacefully and gently.

The arrest came two days after the killing, following a phone call received by Brooksby from a colleague. The call, made around 8 pm last Thursday, provided information about Robinson's potential suicidal ideation and his reported plan to travel to a remote part of Washington County. Brooksby described the call as being with a shaky voice.

During the phone call, Robinson did not initially reveal the identity of the person he had killed. However, it was later confirmed that the person Robinson killed was, in fact, Charlie Kirk.

The parents of Robinson convinced him not to harm himself and promised to help him surrender peacefully. On Tuesday, Robinson was formally indicted on charges including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and commission of violence in the presence of a child.

It's important to note that there are no verified reports or credible information confirming that anyone voluntarily surrendered on the Thursday before last after allegedly murdering Charlie Kirk in Wasatch County. The investigation into the assassination continues, and further details may be released as the case progresses.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the political community, and our thoughts are with Charlie Kirk's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
