A Suspect in the Infamous Escape of Drug Trafficker Mohamed Amra Faces French Justice

On Tuesday, May 6, a man suspected of being an accomplice in the dramatic escape of notorious drug trafficker Mohamed Amra was handed over to French authorities from Germany. The Paris prosecutor's office made this announcement.

This suspect is expected to stand before an investigating judge at the National Jurisdiction for Organized Crime (Junalco), with a potential charge in sight, according to the prosecutor's office, as confirmed by RTL.

Four years ago, on May 14, 2024, a deadly ambush took place at the Incarville toll booth (Eure) – two prison guards were killed, and three others were injured – during Mohamed Amra's daring escape. After almost a year on the run, Amra was finally nabbed in Bucharest on February 22. He was transferred to France, charged, and imprisoned in solitary confinement.

With the arrest of this latest suspect, the number of individuals implicated in this multifaceted case now reaches a minimum of 36. Thirty-five people, including Muhammad Amra and rapper Koba LaD, allegedly involved in the escape plan, are already charged in this case.

Mastermind of the Getaway

Regarding suspects apprehended in Germany, two individuals identified by Romanian authorities as Amra's traveling companions had been arrested, as per the Paris prosecutor's office. On Tuesday, the public ministry declined to disclose any details regarding the second individual apprehended.

According to RTL, the suspect transferred to France on Tuesday, Oltjon O., is believed to have orchestrated the escape of Mohamed Amra from France to Romania by car, traveling through Germany, Austria, and Slovakia. According to the radio, he also escorted the car carrying Mohamed Amra and reserved the last safe house for the fugitive in Bucharest.

Two other suspects detained in Morocco are still waiting for extradition.
