'Suspect accused of murdering two individuals, linked to American Idol executive role, now faces double homicide charges'
In a shocking turn of events, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has revealed that the double homicide of Robin Kaye, a renowned music supervisor for more than 300 episodes of "American Idol", and her husband, Thomas Deluca, aged 70, appears to be a **botched burglary**.
The crime scene was discovered on Monday, July 14, in the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue, Encino. LAPD Lieutenant Guy Golan provided details about the tragic incident, stating that the suspect, Raymond Boodarian, a 22-year-old individual, allegedly entered the highly fortified home through an unlocked door. A confrontation ensued, leading to the suspect shooting and killing both Kaye and Deluca before fleeing on foot.
Investigators plan on filing charges for murder against Boodarian, who was arrested on felony charges and held without bail on July 15, 2025. He was apprehended at his residence in the 19,000 block of Vanowen Street. At the time of his arrest, Boodarian did not provide any statements.
The LAPD is working to establish a stronger connection between the suspect and the crime scene, beyond the surveillance video recovered from the house. The motive for the double homicide is believed to be a **random act of violence during a burglary-related confrontation**.
Police records show prior calls for a possible burglary at the residence on the day of the murder. Despite security measures like cameras and high walls, the suspect managed to gain entry through the unlocked door. The couple’s deaths were discovered during a welfare check several days later. A gun recovered from Boodarian's home is undergoing forensic testing to confirm if it is the murder weapon.
The District Attorney's Office is prepared to arraign the suspect on Aug. 20, and special circumstances have been filed with respect to the murders. However, LAPD officials are still investigating any possible motive for the double homicide beyond the burglary theory.
