The Vologda region recently hosted the interregional "School of Safety" competitions, an annual event that brings together students from various regions across Russia to test their knowledge and skills in safety and emergency preparedness. This year, the event saw the participation of 22 teams from 11 Russian subjects, each vying for a spot in the Russian championships.

The Sysolsky delegation from the Sysolsky District, Komi, proved to be the strongest in the North-West Federal District, winning multiple events. The team, coached by Alexei Pechenitsyn, demonstrated their prowess in disciplines such as the survival route, climbing contest, and the "Tourist obstacle course."

However, the Sysolsky athletes faced a challenge in the water events due to a lack of a swimming pool and limited water training. Despite this, they managed to secure a respectable position in other disciplines. The team from Kortkerossky District took third place in the younger age group.

The competitions, which lasted for five days, were held at the "Salyut" ski base in the Vologda region. The participating regions included the Republic of Karelia, Republic of Komi, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Leningrad, Murmansk, Novgorod, Pskov regions, St. Petersburg, and the Nenets Autonomous District.

The competitions provided a practical application of knowledge from the "Fundamentals of Safety and Protection of the Motherland" course, offering a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills in various disciplines. The events included a combined fire fighting relay, 4x1000 meter athletics relay, water rescue, team presentation contest, and a wall newspaper contest.

The interregional "School of Safety" competitions aim to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage students to take an active interest in safety and emergency preparedness. Each subject sent two teams to the competitions, winners of their regional "School of Safety" stages. The competitions concluded in the Vologda region, with the overall team standings seeing the Sysolsky delegation finish in third place.
