Survivor Turns 50: Iconic Exhibit Opens in NYC with Rare Show Relics

A new exhibition celebrating Survivor has opened at the Paley Museum in New York City. Titled Outwit, Outplay, Outlast: Celebrating 50 Seasons of Survivor, it marks the show's half-century milestone. Fans can explore rare items and relive key moments from the long-running reality series.

The show first aired in 2000 on CBS and has since inspired versions worldwide. These include Australian Survivor, Survivor NZ, Survivor South Africa, and the 2023 revival of Survivor UK.

The exhibit offers a deep dive into Survivor's history, from its debut to its 50th season. Visitors can see original costumes worn by host Jeff Probst and past contestants. On display are immunity idols, necklaces, and the famous torch snuffer used at Tribal Council.

Interactive features let fans pose with a real Survivor torch and sit at the Tribal Council set. The museum's Bennack Theater screens classic episodes, giving guests a chance to relive memorable challenges. The exhibition also traces how the show changed reality television over the years.

The collection includes set materials, props, and behind-the-scenes stories. It runs until May 31, 2023, giving fans weeks to experience the show's legacy firsthand.
