Voting for the legislative elections will occur on the 18th of May, and according to a survey by Pitagoria for Jornal de Noticias, TSF, TVI, and CNN, 34.8% of Portuguese respondents have expressed their intentions.

Surveys suggest an advantage for the ruling party in the latest political landscape.

Portugal's Partido Socialista (PS) sees an increase of 7.4% in intended votes according to recent polls, placing them second with 28.1% of the votes. However, they remain behind the leading party, CHEGA, which is predicted to secure 15.2% of the votes.

Iniciativa Liberal (IL) may gain 7.4% of the votes, whereas smaller left-leaning parties such as Livre and CDU (a coalition between the Portuguese Communist Party and Os Verdes) could see some gains, with approximately 4.4% and 4.1% of the population's vote respectively.

Bloco de Esquerda (BE) may lose deputies in these elections, as they are expected to receive only 1.9% of the votes, and PAN may fail to elect a single deputy, with 0.6% of the votes.

As the official campaign begins, 15.4% of the Portuguese population remains undecided about their vote, and there is a possibility of 39% abstention in these elections.

Key differences among major political parties emerged during the 2025 election campaign. The Socialist Party (PS) traditionally supports social welfare policies, healthcare, and pensions, but faced voter loss due to perceived mishandling of the housing crisis and economic issues. Chega, a far-right party, gained substantially on tough stances on immigration, law and order, and national identity. Iniciativa Liberal (IL) advocates for economic liberalism, while the left-wing Bloco de Esquerda emphasizes social justice, labor rights, environmental protection, and expanded welfare. The CDU coalition focuses on workers' rights, anti-capitalist economic policies, and environmental sustainability. Livre prioritizes ecological concerns, social equality, and human rights, and PAN promotes sustainability, animal welfare, and ethical governance.
