Kenya Kwanza Leaders Back Ruto's 2027 Re-election

Kenya Kwanza leaders have expressed their strong support for President William Ruto's re-election bid in 2027. They commend Ruto's transformative agenda, particularly his efforts in economic growth and empowerment, as key reasons for their confidence in his continued leadership.

Speaker Moses Wetangula and Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa are among the leaders who have voiced their support. They commend Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's role in promoting economic empowerment programs such as affordable housing and social health initiatives. The leaders assert that unity and economic empowerment, especially among women, are central to their transformative agenda.

The leaders commend Ruto's collaborative work with ODM leader Raila Odinga in uniting and stabilizing the country. They dismiss opposition criticism as divisive and unproductive. The opposition, they claim, does not have an agenda for Kenyans and promotes politics of insults, disunity, hatred, and tribalism.

In a fund drive presided over by Wetangula and Ichungwa, Ruto, Wetangula, and Ichungwa each donated money to the economic empowerment programme. The leaders also emphasized their commitment to the programme, promising to continue it despite resistance from the opposition.

The leaders also highlighted the stabilization of the Kenyan shilling and the reduction of the price of fertilizers from Sh7,000 to Sh2,500 as signs of the country's economic growth. However, they accused the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, and other opposition leaders of insulting the government instead of providing solutions.

Wetangula and Ichungwa also claimed that Gachagua's tour of the US promotes tribalism and damages the image of the government abroad. They urge Kenyans to reject leaders with selfish and vested interests.

There is political speculation about Kindiki's future as running mate, with some suggesting that Ruto might consider other candidates for 2027, including the potential of a female deputy president, reflecting wider political and gender representation considerations.

President Ruto himself has rejected opposition narratives branding him a one-term president. He asserts his delivery record and development projects, including economic empowerment efforts, will justify his 2027 re-election.
