Support for girls' flag football in the DMV region to receive a $1 million investment, according to declarations from local commanders.
Washington Commanders Boost Girls' Flag Football in DMV Region with $1 Million Investment
The Washington Commanders are doubling down on their commitment to the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) region by investing $1 million over two years in girls' flag football programs. This initiative aims to provide a first-class experience for over 127 teams in the area.
Mark Clouse, President of the Washington Commanders, has highlighted growing the game of football, particularly girls' flag football, as a top priority for the organization. Accordingly, the Commanders' support extends beyond the field, encompassing equipment, programming, and community engagement.
Each of the 127 teams will receive financial support to help sustain and grow their teams. Moreover, every program will be given 25 custom Nike uniforms, an NFL Flag Kit including 50 flags, 10 footballs, and instructional materials tailored to help coaching and playing flag football.
In addition to the equipment, the Commanders will offer community-based programming. This includes coaching clinics, "Learn to Play" sessions, season kickoff events, and championship celebrations to foster development and enthusiasm for the sport at all levels.
This investment represents one of the largest contributions to girls’ youth sports in the region. The Commanders hope to create a thriving environment for athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans across the three jurisdictions.
In summary, the Commanders’ two-year, $1 million commitment encompasses funding, Nike uniforms, football equipment, instructional resources, and extensive programming to support and amplify girls’ flag football programs throughout the DMV area.
