Superyacht Aviva Takes Over Dartmouth, Devon

Dartmouth, a quaint town in Devon, was taken over by a colossal superyacht, Aviva, for several weeks in August 2024. The $300,000,000 vessel, owned by billionaire Lewis Capaldi, caused a stir among locals due to its size and luxurious features.

Aviva, measuring 322 feet, sailed down from Troon, Scotland, and moored on the Devonshire coast. It was part office and part residence for Capaldi, accommodating up to 16 people with lavish amenities. The yacht featured onyx and marble interiors, a padel tennis court, and an eco-friendly hybrid electric propulsion system capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots.

The yacht's arrival in Dartmouth was noticeable, dominating the landscape and attracting significant attention. Locals were frustrated and baffled by its presence, with some speculating it was there for a local regatta but unsure of its duration.

Aviva's stay in Dartmouth highlighted the contrast between the small town's usual tranquility and the opulence of the billionaire lifestyle. Despite the disruption, the yacht's departure left the town returning to its peaceful state.
