Supermarket chain H-E-B will commence construction on a second outlet in Fort Worth
H-E-B, the San Antonio-based supermarket chain, is set to open a new store in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of its ongoing expansion in the Lone Star State. The new store will be located in the Walsh Ranch development and is expected to open in late 2026, though an exact opening date has not been announced yet.
The investment into the new Walsh Ranch store is estimated to exceed $18 million. This will be H-E-B's second Fort Worth location, following the opening of a store in the Alliance neighborhood in 2024. The company has been rapidly expanding in North Texas with multiple new stores opened since 2022 and others planned across the region through 2026, including nearby locations such as Prosper, with an opening date set for August 13, 2025.
In addition to the new Fort Worth store, H-E-B has also made a commitment of $5 million in funding to nonprofits providing aid and recovery to communities affected by the deadly flash floods in the Texas Hill Country.
Meanwhile, H-E-B's rival, Fiesta Mart, has added 'Clinic in a Box' to two of its stores in Fort Worth and Missouri City, Texas. This new addition includes OnMed Care Stations, providing a range of healthcare services to customers.
In other news, United Supermarkets is starting construction on a new store in Texas. The new store will feature an adjacent c-store/fuel station.
Elsewhere, H-E-B operates Favor Delivery, an on-demand delivery service, and recently unveiled a new store in Melissa, Texas. The new store offers H-E-B's signature offerings and departments.
On the delivery front, DoorDash has launched all-day drone delivery in Dallas-Fort Worth, marking a significant step forward in the future of grocery delivery.
Lastly, El Rancho Supermercado is holding a grand reopening in Dallas. Construction on the new store is expected to begin around the holiday season. H-E-B, with its commitment to community and expansion, remains a dominant player in the Texas grocery market, ranking No. 13 on The PG 100, Progressive Grocer's 2025 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America.
Partnering with its sports sponsorships, H-E-B is set to introduce sports-themed events at its upcoming Walsh Ranch store in Fort Worth, Texas, aiming to provide customers with a unique shopping experience in addition to its groceries. With the new store's opening scheduled for late 2026, these events will offer community members the opportunity to interact with local sports teams and engage in various sports activities.
