Summer-Like Weather Continues in Germany with a Risk of Thunderstorms

Germany is set to enjoy a prolonged period of summer-like weather in early to mid-August 2025, with temperatures mostly ranging between mid-20s and high 20s Celsius. However, this warm period is accompanied by a significant risk of thunderstorms, particularly in southern Germany.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms, with amounts of up to 150 liters per square meter possible, especially south of the Danube. This weather pattern is causing a mix of sweltering heat over some parts and continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms mainly over southern Germany.

On Wednesday, temperatures in the north will be around 20 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in the south and center will reach up to 26 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, temperatures will rise into the summer range, with the majority of the country experiencing temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. The meteorologist predicts that this hot and summery weather will last until Sunday.

Metorologist Marco Manitta from the DWD stated that there will be sunshine expected in almost the whole country on Thursday. However, in the northwest, there could be individual showers later in the day. Only local thunderstorms are expected from Friday to Sunday, according to the meteorologist.

In the north, it will remain changeable with isolated showers, brief thunderstorms, and temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius. Along the coast, it will be slightly cooler with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the south and the center of Germany will have sunshine and maximum temperatures up to 26 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with temperatures south of the Main and Mosel rivers exceeding 30 degrees Celsius on Friday.

The overall weather impression from Friday to Sunday remains beautiful, according to the meteorologist. However, it is essential for residents to stay informed about the local weather conditions and any potential thunderstorm warnings, especially in southern Germany.

The weather forecast for the coming days in Germany suggests a prolonged period of summer-like weather, with temperatures ranging between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. However, this warm period also includes a significant risk of thunderstorms, particularly in southern Germany, as warned by the German Weather Service (DWD).
