Things heated up when Heinz Eickelmann, Willi Frye, and Udo Martschinke, three passionate swimmers, saw the potential in swimming as a viable sport within their community. After hosting a successful public swimming event to gauge the interest, they successfully called for the formation of a swimming department. The venue for this grand launch was the brand-new Beverbad, a pool that saw over a century's worth of bathers rush through its turnstiles in one day!
