The hippodrome of La Teste-de-Buch was abuzz with excitement this Sunday as fifteen exceptional gallopers aged 4 years and older gathered for the prestigious Prix Le Journal "Le Veinard" Handicap Divided Class 2 race. The summer conditions were perfect for the event, with a temperature of 22°C, a very cloudy sky, and a north-west wind at 18 km/h.

The Handicap Divided system created an elite hierarchy, with weights ranging from 54 to 62.5 kilos to equalize chances. The 2000-meter distance tested the class, stamina, and regularity of each participant, making it a distance worthy of the greatest events.

Get Set, the defending champion, was favoured for the race due to its previous win, current form, and partnership with Maxime Guyon. Get Set (IRE) lived up to expectations, finishing in second place, just behind the race winner, Kahuna. Thunderspeed, an eight-year-old gelding, also put up a strong fight, securing third place.

Kahuna, ridden by Morin D., emerged as the top contender on the day, with a remarkable performance that saw it cross the finish line first. Veritable (ridden by Madamet A.) finished fourth, while Maroon Six (ridden by Crastus A.) rounded out the top five.

Other notable participants included Oxalis, Eugene Smith, and Bobbymurphy, who finished in the lower placings but were also part of the competitive field. Oxalis (IRE), an eight-year-old experienced gelding, was the absolute poker bet for this Handicap Divided, having recently won a handicap at the Deauville racetrack and with a favourable post position.

The Quinté Base selection for the race included five runners: Get Set (IRE), Georges Ville, Maroon Six, Thunderspeed, and Siyouking. The winning tiercé combination included Get Set (IRE), Georges Ville, and Maroon Six.

The 2 out of 4 bet was on Thunderspeed and Siyouking, with the potential to finish in the top four. For thrill-seekers, the explosive combination for the jackpot included Get Set (IRE), Oxalis (IRE), Eugene Smith (IRE), Teardrop Explodes, and Harmony Grey.

The event attracted the elite of French gallop, with a fierce struggle in perspective for the places but also for the top step of the podium. The race was a testament to the skill and determination of both the horses and their jockeys, making it a truly memorable day at the hippodrome of La Teste-de-Buch.
