Sunday, August 10, 2025 Weather Forecasts, Firm Ground, Main Event at Deauville - GRAND HANDICAP DE DEAUVILLE
The sun-drenched coast of Deauville is set to host one of the most prestigious races of the summer season - the Grand Handicap of Deauville. With a perfect race day forecast of 22°C under a sunny sky and a 18 km/h north wind, the stage is set for an exciting sprint.
Several horses have caught the eye of trainers and punters alike, with Bullace, Contentious Soul, Mr Fleurant, Babakool, and Caramelito emerging as the top contenders.
Bullace, a seven-year-old gelding from Yann Lerner, arrives at the peak of his form, having strung together two consecutive successes. Contentious Soul, who recently won impressively on July 6th at Deauville, deserves his place among the favourites for this prestigious event, despite an increased weight. Mr Fleurant finished sixth in a Quinté+ on the PSF, leaving a favorable impression, while Caramelito, the absolute favourite for the Grand Handicap, arrives in dazzling form and has recently performed well in a Group 3 at Chantilly.
Babakool, a four-year-old colt from François Rohaut, is a formidable finisher, according to the trainer. Another horse to watch is Mr Fleurant (IRE), who recently finished sixth in a Quinté+ on the PSF, leaving a favorable impression.
Other notable runners include Apax, Love Rush, Kovrov, and Clavus, among the 18 runners competing at 7 furlongs and 209 yards on a turf surface with good to soft going. Apax, Markus Nigge's five-year-old gelding, is well-weighted, according to the trainer. Love Rush (IRE) is an outsider who possesses the class to create an upset, while Kovrov, Jérôme Reynier's five-year-old gelding, arrives with two very good recent outings.
The total prize money for the race is 96,000 euros, with the winner receiving €60,479. Last year's winner, Hit It, Victoria Head's four-year-old filly, will not be defending her title this year. However, HIT It, who won on this course last year, could still be a factor if she returns to her best form.
The race takes place at Deauville racetrack with a 1600 meters straight course. A jackpot of one million euros awaits the perfect winner of the Quinté+. As the race approaches, all eyes will be on these top contenders as they battle it out for the Grand Handicap of Deauville.
The Grand Handicap of Deauville, a prestigious sports event, will see a race-day filled with excitement in Deauville, with several horses vying for the top spot. Bullace, Contentious Soul, Mr Fleurant, Caramelito, and Babakool are among the top performers in the racing scene, each demonstrating impressive skill and form in their respective races.
