After a wet, cool Pentecost weekend, Germany's anticipating a explosive summer blast. The mercury's set to soar towards the scorching 30-degree mark, but it won't last long.

ntv.de: With the arrival of Thursday and Friday, we're in for two sizzling, hot summer days. What's on the horizon?

Experts like Björn Alexander chimed in, predicting these days to be our hottest of the year so far, with temperatures as high as 33-35 degrees in the west. However, a stormfront's brewing, promising an end to the sticky heat.

Peak Temperature - How Hot Will It Get and Where Is It Coming From?

Powerful high "Xara" is pushing dry, increasingly hot air across Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and the Mediterranean basin. At the same time, low "Xhevat" is approaching from the Atlantic, bringing hot, humid air from Spain and North Africa. This clash could trigger intense summer storms with a high potential for severe weather.

Tropic Nights - Staying Toasty During the Heatwave

Some regions may even experience the first tropical nights of the year, with temperatures not dropping below 20 degrees. The hottest spots will be along the Rhine and its tributaries, with metropolitan areas in the west and southwest enduring balmy nights. However, this heatwave will be short-lived and won't cause excessive building heating.

Storm Warning - Current Severe weather Schedule

On Friday, isolated summer storms may pop up in the southwest. By Saturday, storm activity will intensify in the west and southwest. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, storms will sweep northward into the center of the country. Sunday will bring the highest severe weather risk in the east, where lightning and thunder are likely, followed by heavy rain, medium to large hail, and gusty winds. The storms should subside by the night of Monday.

Heat Stress - Potential Dangers to Beware

The storms may bring heavy rain, with amounts of up to 50 liters per square meter possible. This rapid downpour could lead to flash flooding and wind damage to heavily-leaved trees. As the storms move eastward, residents should remain vigilant and prepare for potential hazards.

On the Horizon - Future Weather Predictions

Following Monday's cool-down, it seems like Tuesday and Wednesday will be quite pleasant, with temperatures gradually increasing, especially in the south and center. By the start of summer on June 21 (Saturday), we can look forward to widespread beautiful, warm weather - for now.
