Summer's Highly-Anticipated Co-op Shooter, Mycopunk, Announces Release Date at PC Gaming Show 2025

Ready, set, let's dive into the fungal world of Mycopunk, the upcoming co-op FPS game that's sure to tickle your funny bone! This game is a perfect blend of fast-paced action, idiotic humor, and, of course, fungi. If you're not already convinced, play the demo and gather a few mates to join the ride.

The launch date for this mushroom mayhem was announced at the PC Gaming Show 2025 on June 11. Mark your calendars for July 10, a date that'll either make your heart race with excitement or make you want to pull your hair out from anticipation.

In Mycopunk, you and your pals play as a team of overpowered and underpaid scrap bots. Your mission? Eliminate the fungal infestation plaguing the planet. Each bot comes with signature movement abilities, like Glider, who can fly for a few seconds on cooldown. But don't worry, weapons like guns and grenades are class-agnostic, so you can share the firepower love. Imagine this as the surface scuffle while Deep Rock Galactic's dwarves are busy eradicating the underworld's evils.

The enemy faction in Mycopunk is essentially a collective hive mind of the planet's fungal infestation. They want you dead, and their preferred method of elimination is sending swarms of purple mushrooms armed with leftover society weapons. These tentacled freakazoids can be dismantled limb by limb or by chipping away at their armored core. It's like fighting Horizon's robo-dinos: sometimes, it's more practical to shoot off a dangerous weapon before going for the killshot.

Between missions, you can cash in the materials you've found for upgrades that don't just boost your numbers, but actually change how your guns behave. Mods are attached to guns on a grid, so you might find yourself shuffling them around like in Resident Evil 4 to make everything fit. The powerful mods take up the most room, like a DMR upgrade that transforms its magazine into a grenade.

The demo gave us a taste of Mycopunk's gunplay, but we're eager to see how its variety shines when it launches in July. The new trailer revealed glimpses of mission types not present in the demo, including ones with vehicles, which have got us particularly excited.

After the thrilling gameplay shown in the demo, I'm eagerly awaiting the launch of Mycopunk on July 10. The game's humor, fast-paced action, and creative use of fungi make it an enjoyable addition to my entertainment lineup, which already includes movies-and-tv and other digital content. More than that, I'm looking forward to watching reviews and analysis from PC Gamer's Morgan Park, as he is known for his expertise on shooter games.
