Summer Work Celebration in Yakutsk, 1945 - Recognition for Efforts Towards Victory

================================================================================

In the remote and resource-rich region of Yakutia, the spirit of rebuilding and recovery is palpable as the spring season arrives and the time for the Yakut people's national holiday, Ysyakh, approaches. This year, the holiday will be featured on the union screen for the first time, offering a glimpse into the beautiful and diverse nature of Yakutia, its riches, and the kolkhoz settlements where livestock graze.

Amidst the ongoing reconstruction efforts, the dedication and hard work of Yakutian laborers are evident. One such individual is Modest Afanasyevich Trifonov, a 64-year-old man from the Kuybyshev collective farm, who was one of the best laborers in the region. In 1944, Trifonov loaded six hundred centners of manure by hand and brought 180 loads of firewood for the initial school and the management office of the kolkhoz. He did not take a day off from kolkhoz production throughout the year and even plowed 15 hectares and planted 10 hectares of potatoes in that period.

Another labor hero is Terenty Kupriyanov, a mower from the 'Red Row' collective farm in Amgin District. Kupriyanov works from 6 am to 9 pm and has a unique technique for mowing, making the swath wider on even ground and adjusting it on uneven terrain. As a result, he cuts approximately an acre of land per day. Kupriyanov's dedication has not gone unnoticed, as he was awarded for his high mowing performance at a meeting held in Nyrba village.

The labor achievements of these individuals and others like them are a testament to the spirit of the Stakhanovite movement-inspired labor campaigns that were common in the Soviet Union during the post-war recovery process. These campaigns rewarded outstanding workers with public recognition, material goods, and sometimes promotion. However, specific information about Yakutia's labor achievements and rewards in the summer of 1945 is scarce.

After the victory in 1945, Soviet regions, including Yakutia, were involved in extensive post-war reconstruction efforts. Workers and collective farms (kolkhozes) in such regions received awards and honors from Soviet authorities to incentivize increased productivity and reconstruction efforts. State purchases of milk and butter in 1945 were redeemed with industrial and food products, providing a significant incentive for suppliers. Half of this excess revenue was sold within the district where the procurement took place.

As the nation moves forward and the people of Yakutia continue to rebuild, the upcoming film by the Irkutsk Studio of Cinematic Chronicle will offer a glimpse into the lives of these hardworking individuals and the revived Yakut people. The film aims to depict the national celebration, convey the national peculiarity and color, and reflect the new life of the Yakut people as they continue to work towards a brighter future.

Despite the rigorous reconstruction efforts in Yakutia, the region's resilient workers find time for leisurely pursuits, such as sports. Modest Afanasyevich Trifonov, for example, was not only a skilled laborer but also an accomplished athlete, often participating in local sports competitions.

The weather in Yakutia during the summer of 1945 greatly impacted the harvest season, with some farmers reporting lighter yields due to rainy conditions. However, the dedication and innovative techniques of laborers like Terenty Kupriyanov ensured that Yakutia's collective farms still met their production targets and contributed to the nation's recovery efforts.
