Summer theatre series at Carnegie concludes with staging of Grease from August 15-24
The beloved musical "Grease" is set to light up the stage at The Carnegie in Covington from August 15 to August 24, 2025. This electrifying production promises a youthful and nostalgic experience of the classic Grease musical.
At the helm of this production is Matthew Umphreys, the music director, who has previously directed last season's Tick, Tick... Boom! The cast features a mix of talented students and recent alumni from universities such as the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Otterbein University, Point Park University, Elon University, Xavier University, and Ohio Northern University.
The production is directed and choreographed by Eric Byrd and includes songs made famous by the original stage production like "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'," and "We Go Together," as well as iconic hits from the 1978 motion picture such as "Sandy," "Hopelessly Devoted to You," "Grease," and "You're the One That I Want."
The story revolves around Danny and Sandy as they navigate love, friendship, and high school life in the halls of 1950s Rydell High. A special addition to the cast is Paige Davis, a Broadway veteran and former host of TLC's Trading Spaces, who will appear as English teacher Miss Lynch.
Performances run from August 15–24, 2025. Showtimes include evenings at 7:30 pm on August 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23, with additional matinees at 2 pm on August 16 and 23, and 3 pm on August 17 and 24. Ticket prices for "Grease" range from $18-$25.
