Summer theatre series at Carnegie concludes with presentation of the musical Grease from August 15 to 24
The Carnegie in Covington is set to host a new production of the classic musical "Grease," running from August 15-24. Directed and choreographed by Eric Byrd, this production of "Grease" promises to deliver the original stage production's beloved songs like "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'," and "We Go Together," as well as hits from the 1978 film such as "Sandy," "Hopelessly Devoted to You," "Grease," and "You're the One That I Want."
The show is set in the halls of 1950s Rydell High and follows the story of Danny and Sandy as they navigate love, friendship, and high school trials. A notable addition to the cast is Broadway veteran and former host of TLC's Trading Spaces, Paige Davis, who will appear as English teacher Miss Lynch.
The cast also includes students and recent alumni from several universities, including the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Otterbein University, Point Park University, Elon University, Xavier University, and Ohio Northern University.
Matthew Umphreys, founder and director of The Carnegie resident company Queen City Cabaret, is the music director for the production. Umphreys previously music directed last season's Tick, Tick... Boom! at The Carnegie.
