Summer reading clubs provide a joyous experience for young bibliophiles

The Media House by the Lake is set to exhibit book reviews and the corresponding books from its summer reading club on the first floor, starting September 23. This annual event, known as the summer reading club 'Hot on Reading,' has been a part of the Media House's offerings since 2017, and is organised by Alexandra Schenk, head of the children's and youth library, and her colleague Verena Woellhaf.

Mayor Andreas Hein has encouraged young bookworms to return to the Media House by the Lake, emphasising the wealth of great stories available all year round. The summer reading club has been a popular event, with 29 young readers gathering at the Media House this year. Over the summer holidays, these young readers read a total of 132 books, each book reviewed and recorded in their personal logbooks.

The displayed book reviews will include the best logbook reviews of the summer reading club participants. Small prizes, as Alexandra Schenk stated, make reading twice as enjoyable. At the closing ceremony, five young readers, Andrii, Elisa, Milena, Sara, and Emma, won main prizes in a raffle. Mayor Andreas Hein presented certificates and gifts to the young readers at the ceremony.

The summer reading club 'Hot on Reading' at the Media House by the Lake is ending with the display of book recommendations on the first floor. The project was initiated by the Public Library Affairs Office at the Tübingen Government Presidency. The Media House by the Lake will showcase these book recommendations as part of the 'Hot on Reading' project, offering a unique opportunity for book lovers to discover new titles and revisit old favourites.

The Media House by the Lake has been a hub for literature enthusiasts, and with the summer reading club recommendations on display, it continues to encourage a love for reading among young people. Whether you're a seasoned reader or just starting out, the Media House by the Lake offers a welcoming atmosphere and a wealth of literary delights. So, mark your calendars for September 23, and head down to the Media House by the Lake to explore the best book recommendations from this year's summer reading club.
