In the heart of summer, a new contender for the season's anthem has emerged, and its name is "Golden". This catchy tune, with its sing-along chorus, danceable rhythm, and popularity on TikTok, has met all the criteria for a genuine summer hit.

The success of "Golden" is not confined to the digital realm, as it has also made a significant impact on the Official German Charts. Compiled by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI), these charts cover 90% of all music sales, making them a reliable success indicator for the music industry, media, and music fans alike.

Apart from "Golden", six other songs from the "KPop Demon Hunters" soundtrack are currently charting, including "Your Idol" and "How It's Done". This surge in popularity has been attributed to the Netflix effect, a term used to describe the impact of a strong story and creative execution reaching millions worldwide.

The international artists in the group HUNTR/X, who sang "Golden", are EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. Their voices have resonated with listeners, resulting in the song being streamed an impressive 30 million times in Germany alone. The complete soundtrack of "KPop Demon Hunters" has accumulated over 100 million streams in the country.

The success of "Golden" has not gone unnoticed. Katja Hofem, Vice President of Content DACH at Netflix, described it as the perfect sound for the summer. Frank Briegmann, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Central Europe and Deutsche Grammophon, stated that "Golden" is the unforgettable song making the current summer in Berlin memorable.

The Netflix animated film "KPop Demon Hunters", which features this summer hit, has also been a regular fixture in the charts, with bands like BTS and Stray Kids regularly occupying top positions. The film topped the weekly Top 10 Netflix charts in 51 countries, making it the current entertainment highlight of the summer.

As of now, "Golden" has been at number one on the Official German Single Charts for two weeks and could reach the top spot for a third time. The song's infectious melody, coupled with its danceable rhythm and popular appeal, has ensured its place as a summer hit, demonstrating the power of the Netflix effect in shaping the music industry landscape.
