It's going to be frosty - but will it be enough for skiing in the southwest? - Sudden Cold Snap Brings Snow and Freezing Temps to Southern Germany

A sharp cold snap will sweep across southern Baden-Württemberg this weekend, bringing flurries and freezing temperatures. The sudden wintry blast has sparked excitement for the upcoming ski season, though operators remain cautious about snow levels.

The region will face bitterly low temperatures, with overnight lows dropping to –6°C along the Rhine and as low as –10°C in higher areas. Light snowfall is expected, but forecasters predict no more than five centimetres, leaving many ski lifts still short of the ten centimetres needed for full operation.

The early taste of winter has brought a mix of anticipation and caution. Ski resorts remain on standby, while motorists are warned of hazardous conditions before warmer weather returns. The region’s first significant snowfall of the season may still be days away.
