- Sudden Change in Krupp's Coaching Role: "Got Quite Unsteady"
Title:Ice Hockey: Uwe Krupp Snags DEL2 Coaching Gig - "Things Moved Fast"
- *
Hey there, hockey fans!
Remember Uwe Krupp, that legendary ice hockey dude? Well, get this – ol' Krupp's back in the game, this time as the coach of DEL2 club EV Landshut!
Seems like old pals played a part in this: Uwe shared that his buddy Bernd Truntschka, a long-tim pal, had asked his opinion on four coaching candidates for the club. Krupp, being the salesman he is, convinced 'em alright! Eventually, Truntschka turned to him and inquired, "So, what's your next move?" Boom – just like that, it all happened pretty quick, according to Krupp (59). He signed a two-year deal with an option for another season in Landshut, just days prior.
Uwe aims to build up "Landshut's Ice Hockey Hub"
Did you know that Landshut is one of the founding clubs of the good ol' DEL? Krupp's goal for the team that finished sixth last season is to put them back in the spotlight. "It's an awesome chance to strengthen this club's identity and keep moving forward," Krupp explained, adding that this new role is a major win. "My goal is to advance Landshut’s ice hockey scene.”
If you're unfamiliar with Uwe Krupp, let me give you a lowdown. This guy is a star – he's won the Stanley Cup a whopping twice in the icy trenches of the NHL! During a lockout season in the elite league, he even played for Landshut back in 1994/95.
As a coach, he led the German national team before taking the reins for several seasons with the Cologne Sharks and Berlin Polar Bears in the DEL. He then coached Sparta Prague and most recently for a few months at HC Lugano in Switzerland. Needless to say, this man knows his stuff!
