Sudanese conflict urged for cessation by UAE, as Port Sudan Authority disseminates escalating false information

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) remains steadfast in its efforts to promote peace and stability in Sudan, despite ongoing unfounded accusations from one of the warring parties, the Port Sudan Authority.

The UAE has been a strong advocate for accountability and an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, working closely with international partners to foster dialogue and contribute to initiatives that address the humanitarian crisis and lay the groundwork for sustainable peace. The country's commitment to these principles is evident in its consistent support for regional and international peace efforts.

However, the UAE's role in Sudan's conflict has been a subject of controversy. While publicly advocating peace, some credible sources have accused the UAE of backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militarily and economically, allegations that the UAE denies. The country views these accusations as baseless and public relations stunts intended to justify impeding peace efforts.

Despite these allegations, the UAE maintains its stance that the needs of the Sudanese people are a priority in Sudan's political process. The country remains committed to a civilian-led process, believing that such a process is essential for a sustainable and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The UAE continues to work closely with partners to address the situation in Sudan, reaffirming its commitment to working towards a secure and stable future for Sudan that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for peace and development.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan has been partly seen as a proxy conflict driven by external powers with competing interests. The UAE's efforts occur within this broader regional geopolitical context, involving Gulf states like Saudi Arabia, which supports the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and pursues a cautious approach to regional conflicts.

In the face of these unfounded accusations from the Port Sudan Authority, the UAE views them as calculated attempts to prolong the war and obstruct a genuine peace process. The UAE's commitment to its initiatives, which focus on ending the war through ceasefire advocacy, civilian-led dialogue, and humanitarian support, accompanied by condemnation of disinformation undermining peace talks, remains unchanged.

The UAE stands with the Sudanese people in their pursuit of peace, stability, and a dignified future. The country's efforts will continue to assist in building a secure and stable future for Sudan that meets the aspirations of its people for peace and development.
