Wrestling Extravaganza at the Athletic Energy Club
Get your wrestling fix with the thrilling 3rd Wrestling Battle hosted by the Athletic Energy Club! Youngsters aged 6 to 14 from both genders were invited to step onto the mat and compete. A whopping 28 clubs with a total of 183 athletes across the nation took up the challenge.
14 Young Fighters from Vorpommern Shine on the Mat
The SAV Torgelow proudly sent off 14 athletes to this adrenaline-pumping event. Their dedication paid off, with the team bagging an impressive 10 medals! They secured a respectable 5th position in the club rankings.
U-12/45 kg champ Astvatsatur Ananikian, U-12/53 kg champion Arminak Ananikian, U-9/23 kg golden girl Henriette Fissler, and U-14/41 kg powerhouse Eli Lutz each claimed a gold medal. Bennet Scholz and Zakhar Shrubkovskyi bagged the runner-up spot in their respective categories. The trio of Muslim Saralapov, Toni Pasewalk, and Karl Enno Nehring won bronze medals in their weight categories. Liselotte Fissler placed third in the U-12/42 kg division, completing the list of medalists from SAV Torgelow.
Meanwhile, the 51st Warnemünde Traditional Tournament was underway in the men's category, attracting nearly 100 wrestlers from 32 clubs. The SAV placed 10th with three athletes. Aiub Shamilkhanov, weighing in at 70 kg, came close to a medal, finishing 4th in the 16-man bracket. He impressively won four out of six matches and scored a total of 40 technical points.
Nazar Shrubkovskyi, the youngest participant in the 79 kg bracket, placed 6th out of 10 combatants. Bakar Asukhanov had to withdraw due to injury after winning his opening match in the 92 kg freestyle event. The next competition for Vorpommern is scheduled for June 21st in Greifswald at the State Youth Sports Games.
