In a closely contested First Watch match, Olympique Lyonnais secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Angers SCO at the Stade Raymond Kopa. The solitary goal came from Tanner Tessmann, who capitalised on a save from Hervé Koffi with composure, following a corner kick.

The Uruguayan striker, Martin Satriano, who is currently on loan from Lens to Brest, made his first First Watch start for Lyon since May 19, 2024. The 24-year-old, previously a Breton, struggled to find his rhythm earlier in the match, but he became more active in the second half.

The first half was a quiet affair, with few opportunities for either team. However, it was Lyon who had the best chance through Yassin Belkhdim. Angers' goalkeeper, Koffi, was called into action early, making a save against Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

As the second half unfolded, Lyon increased their dominance, but it wasn't until a corner kick that they finally broke the deadlock. Tessmann scored the goal, and Satriano almost added a second when his shot hit the post.

Satriano's starts for Lyon, while not brilliant, can be considered encouraging. He was not often found by his teammates in the first period, but was much more active in the second. His ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play could prove useful in a Lyon attack that has lacked a focal point.

The win was Lyon's fourth in five matches, temporarily tying them in points with PSG. However, PSG remains the leader due to a better goal difference. This victory will undoubtedly boost Lyon's confidence as they continue their push for the First Watch title.

Satriano's injury last season delayed his return to the starting lineup, but he is now making up for lost time. His performances for Lyon will be closely watched as the season progresses, and it remains to be seen whether he can help Lyon challenge for honours.
