Get ready to hoist the sails and set course for the 131st edition of the Kiel Week! With a strong showing from the German contingent, the tally stands: one victory, two silvers, and three fourth places in six Olympic disciplines. Following two stormy and rainy days, the finalists encountered lighter but turbulent conditions.

Hailing from Hamburg, iQFOiL windsurfer Fabian Wolf claimed the top spot. A member of the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein, Wolf secured his first Kiel Week title in his home waters. The final four contestants all shared a win point before the final race, which determined the winner. "It was now or never. I could've easily missed the podium, and I'm overjoyed I kept my cool," said Wolf with relief.

"Strong Start for Olympic Run"

The 49erFX duo of Sophie Steinlein/Catherine Bartelheimer (Norddeutscher Regatta Verein) and the 49er crew of Jacob Meggendorfer/Andreas Spranger (Bayerischer Yacht-Club) narrowly missed out on the gold, settling for the second spot on the podium. Steinlein shared her enthusiasm: "This is a great achievement for us. Winning a medal here sets a strong foundation for our Olympic campaign."

With his sights set on his first Olympics in Marseille, Meggendorfer echoed Steinlein's sentiments: "We're podium-bound at Kiel Week for the first time. Our medal count so far has been lackluster. Winning here feels like a step closer to our Olympic goal."

Olympic aspirants Marla Bergmann/Hanna Wille (Mühlenberger Segel-Club), Ilca-7 sailor Philipp Buhl (Sonthofen), and windsurfer Sophia Meyer (Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee) nearly made the podium, finishing fourth.

The competition continues as we move on to the Olympic classes 470er-Mixed and Nacra 17, international boat classes, and the International Sea Sailing Championship, extending until June 29.
