Suarez has the potential to cause an upheaval in Navarrete's dominance.

In a surprising twist of events, legendary promoter Bob Arum reckons former Olympian Charly Suarez could knock out WBO super-featherweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete, despite the underdog status.

"Navarrete's method of attack is simple: he knockouts his opponents," Arum explained during a recent Zoom meeting with Filipino journalists. "So, Charly must be cautious of Navarrete's formidable power and outbox him at every opportunity to secure a decision win. You know, could Charly possibly KO Navarrete? Absolutely, Navarrete tends to be reckless and throws wild punches from all angles, exposing himself in the process."

The much-anticipated title fight is set for Sunday, May 11, 2025, on a Top Rank-promoted show at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Suarez, age 36, turned professional in 2019 after an impressive amateur career that included facing opponents such as Vasyl Lomachenko, Robson Conceicao, and Joe Cordina. His rapid ascent through the ranks earned him a world title shot.

A significant victory for Suarez came when he stopped previously undefeated Paul Fleming in the 12th round in Australia. Following this triumph, Suarez moved to the United States and converted three consecutive wins against Yohan Vasquez, Luis Coria, and Jorge Castañeda.

Arum remains hopeful that an Suarez victory will set the stage for a boxing resurgence among Filipinos, continuing the successful legacy left by Manny Pacquiao.

Navarrete, 30, is one of Mexico's top fighters, boasting three division world titles, including super bantamweight, featherweight, and super featherweight. Navarrete captured the vacant WBO super-featherweight belt with a ninth-round technical knockout of Liam Wilson, and he's successfully defended his title twice against Oscar Valdez.

In their upcoming title fight, Suarez brings an unblemished 18-0 record with 10 knockouts, while Navarrete holds a 39-2-1 record with 32 knockouts.
