Final Showdown at "The Great Meal" in Stuttgart: Swabian Classics Get a Scoff

Stuttgart's ultimate culinary event: "The Perfect Dinner" grand finale.

Just like the first night, Marc's got another Swabian feast planned for his diners. Will Stuttgart embrace his culinary tradition?

Stuttgart - On the fifth day of "The Great Meal" in Stuttgart, a circle is complete! As on the inaugural evening with Melanie (48), Marc (40) promises another Swabian banquet for his guests.

A Spoiler Alert!

Stuttgart's Marc sticks to his roots. The 40-year-old offers his final-night diners a Flaedlesoup, followed by a beef ragout, cheese spaetzle, and potato salad. For dessert, there's pancakes with stone fruit and an apple-cinnamon ice cream.

"Flaedlesoup reminds me of my childhood. It's a nostalgic and comforting dish," explains Marc, who shares a flat. Marc learned Swabian classics from his father.

Yet, criticism abounds. "The soup could have used more 'wumps'," deems Liana (27). And the pancake strips for dessert were inconsistent, as they were cut unevenly.

Paul falters with his menu card: "As if you were eating a bag of bolts"

Suggestions for improvement come during the main course. The potato salad should've been warm, according to Liana and Melanie. "There was little seasoning in the sauce and the ragout was dry," criticizes Joan (33).

Even the cheese spaetzle couldn't convince Joan and Liana. The 33-year-old states: "I found it a complete failure. It tasted acidic and charred."

Liana, left speechless: "I don't know what to say"

To defeat front-runner Liana, Marc needs 37 points. "The meal was far from perfect, elements in each course fell short," finds Joan. The 40-year-old scores 28 points from his diners and thus ends up in last place.

Melanie (30 points) ranks third, while Joan and Ganbold (40) tie for second place with 32 points apiece.

"Wow. I don't know what to say," remarks Liana, overwhelmed. The 27-year-old achieves a score of 36 and is thus the uncontested winner of the round.

"I'm grateful for the time and the people we've shared here. You can't put a price on that," rejoices Joan. The Stuttgart group wants to stay connected.

"The Great Meal" airs every day at 7 p.m. on VOX. Those who can't wait that long can already watch the episodes on RTL.

Enrichment Data:Swabian cuisine, traditional to the area, includes dishes such as:

  • Maultaschen: meat-filled pasta resembling ravioli
  • Spätzle: homemade noodles
  • Allgäuer Käsespätzle: cheese noodles
  • Schupfnudeln: pan-fried noodles, usually served with applesauce or sauerkraut
  1. Despite the criticism from Liana and others about the inconsistency in the pancake strips and acidic taste of the cheese spaetzle, Swabian classics like Maultaschen and Allgäuer Käsespätzle were not mentioned in the meal.
  2. Amongst the discussion of Swabian cuisine and the criticisms of the Flaedlesoup and cheese spaetzle, it seems the upcoming round of "The Great Meal" may focus on pop- culture and entertainment, as celebrities and movies-and-tv were not topics discussed during the Stuttgart diner.
  3. With the mention of movies-and-tv and celebrity sparingly seen in the article, one could surmise that social-media and pop-culture discussions may be more common on platforms other than traditional media outlets like RTL, especially as more facts and opinions about "The Great Meal" contestants emerge.
