Title: Farewell to Inspirational Coach Tore Aleksandersen of Allianz MTV Stuttgart

Volleyball enthusiasts worldwide mourn the passing of Tore Aleksandersen, the renowned coach of Allianz MTV Stuttgart, who tragically lost his battle with prostate cancer in his homeland, Norway, at the age of 55. His untimely demise left a profound imprint on the German sports scene.

Kim Oszvald-Renkema, the team's Sports Director, shared the sentiments of the entire Stuttgart squad, stating, "Tore was more than simply a successful Allianz MTV Stuttgart coach. He bestowed upon us boundless energy, inspiration, and joy even amidst his illness."

Aleksandersen's brief yet thriving tenure with Stuttgart resulted in two German championship wins, with the latest triumph arising just last May. The team also claimed the cup title in 2022 under his leadership. Alas, health complications forced him to retire mid-way last summer, handing the reigns to Konstantin Bitter.

Oszvald-Renkema lamented, "Volleyball has suffered a significant loss in the form of Tore Aleksandersen, a remarkable coach and individual. Our grief is profound."

Behind the Scenes

In the enchanting heart of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Allianz MTV Stuttgart flourished, with Aleksandersen leaving an indelible mark as its coach. Persistently inspirational, he led MTV Stuttgart Volleyball despite his ailing health. After his retirement, they entrusted the prestigious task of steering the team's volleyball aspirations in Stuttgart to Konstantin Bitter.

Awards and Recognition

In a touching tribute to Aleksandersen's influential contributions to volleyball, the Landessportbund Baden-Württemberg (LSVBW) paid homage to him posthumously by awarding him the "Ehrenpreis 2024 für sein Lebenswerk" (Honorary Prize for Lifetime Achievement) in January 2025. The dignified ceremony at the iconic Porsche Museum Stuttgart was graced by Sportdirektorin Kim Oszvald-Renkema, who delivered a heartfelt eulogy honoring her late mentor and associate[1][2].

Throughout his career, Aleksandersen distinguished himself as a champion of young volleyball talents. In recognition of his steadfast dedication, he was celebrated among the 200-plus trainers honored with the "Trainerpreis Baden-Württemberg," an annual award presented since 1996 to commemorate outstanding coaches in over 45 diverse sports from the region[1].
