Unfazed by uncertainty, Eren boards a plane on a Saturday, with no idea of what lies ahead. His first stop is Istanbul, Turkey, from where he travels to the Turkish-Iranian border on foot. Navigating the chaotic streets of Tehran using ride-shares and taxis, he manages to reach the war-torn city.
Skipping safety measures to avoid raising suspicion, Eren has left his bulletproof vest, helmet, and satellite phone behind. At checkpoints, these items could potentially label him an agent or saboteur.
