Stuttgart's Grammy Contender
Get ready for the 66th Grammy Awards in February! Not only will the music world be watching, but so will Composer Kuno Schmid (67), hailing from Stuttgart. This Swabian maestro is hopeful of snagging the coveted prize with his latest album, "Ivan Lins - My Heart Speaks."
Schmid partnered with a symphony orchestra in Los Angeles and Tbilisi (Georgia) to record this masterpiece. predictably, it's earned a Grammy nod in the "Best Latin Jazz" category.

Schmid's not a rookie when it comes to these high-profile events. He snagged a Grammy back in 2010, alongside the Romanian pianist Marian Petrescu (53).
Schmid's ties to the music industry run deep. He's collaborated with big band leader Hugo Strasser, pianist Paul Kuhn, and even pop singer Vico Torriani. With a previous Grammy under his belt and this latest nomination, Schmid is poised to claim his spot among the potential winners of the 66th Grammy Awards, which will take place in none other than Los Angeles.
(Fun fact: Did you know that the term "Swabian" refers to the German dialect spoken in the Swabian region, and can also be used to label people who live in or originate from that region? And speaking of music, did you know that the origins of jazz can be traced back to African American communities in New Orleans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries? Fascinating, right?)
