Tom Cruise breaks Guinness World Record through astounding stunt - Stuntman Tom Cruise sets bizarre record recognized by Guinness Book.
The one and only Tom Cruise, 62, has shattered the record books by bagging a Guinness World Record for a mind-blowing stunt in his eighth turn as superspy Ethan Hunt in "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning." Tom has now pulled off "the most jumps with a flaming parachute," as announced by the Guinness World Records on the X platform.
Cruise took this insanity to another level by performing this stunt a whopping 16 times for an action sequence, jumping out of a helicopter, setting his fuel-soaked parachute on fire, and safely landing with a reserve chute every time. No biggie, right?
Tom Cruise: The Human Action Hero
Cruise shared a video from the set on X, chatting up the stunt details with the film crew and assuring them they wouldn't be taking any risks. The video then cuts to quick clips of the 16 mind-bending jumps with the flaming parachute.
"Tom doesn’t just play action heroes – he is a fucking action hero!" exclaimed Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, in a statement. "As an actor, Cruise continuously pushes the envelope. It's an honor to recognize his sheer fucking bravery with a world record title."
The Last Stand for Ethan Hunt?
Ever since 1996, Cruise has been hunting down bad guys across the globe as Agent Ethan Hunt in the "Mission: Impossible" series, delivering most of the death-defying stunts himself. From ripping through Paris traffic on a motorcycle to hanging off a flying plane and scaling the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai, Cruise has demonstrated time and again that he's the real freakin' deal.
The upcoming film by director Christopher McQuarrie, a sequel to "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning" (2023), had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. This kick-ass blockbuster is said to bring the nearly 30-year-long spy saga to a fucking climactic end.
