Celebratory spirits are abuzz at Mercedes! In the qualifying round for the Canadian Grand Prix, George Russell savored a sweet triumph, snatching the coveted pole position. Hot on his heels, Red Bull's Max Verstappen will start the race, while McLaren's Lando Norris struggles in 7th place. Nico Hülkenberg might just make it to the top 10.

The saga unfolded in Montreal with Russell clocked at an incredible 1:10.899 minutes, barely edging out Verstappen by a mere 0.160 seconds. On the brink of his first Formula 1 victory, Russell expressed sheer delight, stating, "The last lap was one of the most exciting of my life. I'm very, very happy about it." Verstappen, too, seemed content with his performance, optimistic for the pending race, "Let's see what happens tomorrow. I'm quite happy with what we've achieved," he said.

Nico Hülkenberg, the lone German driver, struggled to make an impact, managing to secure only the 13th spot. However, subsequent penalties may elevate him to 12th position come race day. Despite his humble showing, Hülkenberg's promising performance in Barcelona didn't go unnoticed, securing him many points for his Sauber team as fifth place.

Oscar Piastri, currently leading the overall standings, found himself in third place during the qualifying round. As the new season's tenth race approaches, Piastri holds a 10-point lead over his McLaren teammate Norris, who trails behind him in seventh. Verstappen Struggled to break through the ranks, managing to secure only the 3rd spot. Despite his lead in overall victories, Verstappen finds himself in distant third, 49 points behind Piastri. The Dutchman boasts three Quebec wins in the past three years, which he hopes to leverage this coming Sunday (8:00 PM/Sky & RTL).
