"Study Day and Roundtable Discussion: Ecology from Rural Areas"

Prepare for an enlightening day of discourse as Sciences Po hosts the "Ecology from the Ruralities" conference, organised in collaboration with the Foundation for Political Ecology and the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics. The event, scheduled for 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on a date yet to be announced, will take place at Sciences Po, Salons Scientifiques (salle B.108). The day will kick off with an opening coffee from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a welcome speech from Florence Faucher, Director of Sciences Po, CEE, and Kevin Puisieux, director of the FEP.

The conference promises to be a rich and insightful experience, featuring four thematic round tables designed to delve into the major challenges raised by the ecological question in rural areas. These discussions will cover various topics, such as agroecology, the transition towards sustainability, and sustainable development in rural areas.

At 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM, a coffee break will provide attendees with a brief respite. The first round table, scheduled from 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM, will focus on ruralities and popular classes, with speakers including Violaine Girard, Fanny Hugues, Pierre Blavier, and Amandine Lebreton-Garnier.

Following a midday break from 12:30 PM to 1:25 PM, the second round table will delve into political tensions and conflicts in rural areas, with speakers Samuel Ouahab and Sally Schnapper, moderated by Anne Bringault.

The afternoon will commence with a coffee break from 15:00 PM to 15:15 PM, and at 15:15 PM to 16:30 PM, Antonin Besch and Nadège Vezinat will discuss access to public services, moderated by Arnaud Bontemps.

At 16:30 PM to 17:00 PM, there will be a change of room for the next session, and at 17:00 PM to 18:00 PM, Bertrand Hervieu from Sciences Po CEEL will deliver a carte blanche talk on historical perspectives of ruralities and ecology.

The conference will conclude with a discussion on European rural development through the case of mobility policies, organised in partnership with the Urban School of Sciences Po.

This conference aims to serve as a bridge between the academic field and organised civil society representatives, encouraging the exchange of views and enriching collective reflection on these important issues.
