Clarion Gaming Managing Director Stuart Hunter successfully completes the taxing Spartan Beast endurance race, raising funds for charitable organization CHIPS. The Spartan Beast, a part of the Spartan Race series, is a challenging half-marathon (21km) obstacle course with approximately 30 obstacles.
Hunter finished the race in 3 hours and 51 minutes, raising over £4,000 for CHIPS, a children's charity that provides powered wheelchairs for youngsters with critical mobility issues.
In an interview following the race, Hunter shared his experience, stating, "The allure of undertaking a tough event like the Spartan Beast lies in pushing one's physical and mental limits." He further added that "apart from maintaining physical fitness and avoiding injuries, one needs a positive mental outlook to traverse 13 miles, stopping at over 30 strength tests along the way."
Reflecting on the charity aspect, he stated, "My involvement with CHIPS, which originated from the gambling industry, transformed the challenge of the Spartan Beast into a force for good. It reinforced the importance of maintaining a positive perspective when stepping significantly outside one's comfort zone." He expressed his gratitude to the international industry for their generous contributions and noted that each powered wheelchair provided by CHIPS costs approximately £6,000, leaving some distance to meet the fundraising goal and ultimately transform a child's life.
