In a closely contested match, Real Betis secured a 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga, marking a useful warm-up for their upcoming Europa League clash against Nottingham Forest.

The game began with a quick goal for Real Betis, as Cucho Hernández capitalised on a poor pass from Sociedad's defence, scoring after just seven minutes. The second goal came in the second half, with Abdessamad Ezzalzouli taking advantage of a mistake by Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro, who failed to handle a cross, allowing Ezzalzouli to score three minutes into the half.

Pablo Fornals extended Betis' lead later in the game, making it 3-1 with a goal from a low cross from the right. Sociedad managed to pull one back due to slack defending, as Ander Barrenetxea ran free and passed to Brais Méndez, who scored.

The defeat extends Real Sociedad's winless streak to five games, leaving them fourth from the bottom in the league. This poor start to the season has raised concerns, with alarm bells ringing for coach Sergio Francisco, who was appointed to his first top-flight post in July.

In contrast, Real Betis' defence has been strong, while Sociedad's has been weak, allowing multiple goals in their last few games. The victory moves Betis up to fourth place in La Liga, as they continue to advance in multiple competitions.

It's worth noting that Xabi Alonso, a former Sociedad player, was the coach of Real Sociedad for the first time in the top tier before the match against Real Betis. Despite the loss, the future remains uncertain for both teams as they prepare for their upcoming matches. For Real Sociedad, they will be looking to turn their fortunes around, while Real Betis will be aiming to continue their successful run in the Europa League.
