In a closely contested match, the Wuppertaler Sportverein (WSV) faced off against Rödinghausen in the first round of the Niederrheinpokal. Despite creating the first chances in the game, it was Rödinghausen who took the lead and went on to secure a 0-4 victory.

The opening goal came in the 17th minute, with former WSVer Tim Corsten finding the back of the net from 16 meters out, sending the ball into the far corner. The WSV struggled to respond, with opportunities proving scarce.

In the 21st minute, a cross from Levin Müller caused guest defense problems, but the ball trickled just past the post. The WSV's chances improved slightly in the second half, but it was Rödinghausen who extended their lead in the 52nd minute. Eduard Probst scored the second goal, making the score 0-2.

The WSV's woes continued as Coach Tyrala was sent off for allegedly holding the ball too long in the 53rd minute. The home side managed to pull one back through Fesenmeyer in the 58th minute, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed as Fesenmeyer added another in the 87th minute.

Marius Luca Bauer scored the fourth and final goal for Rödinghausen in the 77th minute. The WSV made some changes in the latter stages of the game, with Maximilian Scharf replacing Miyamoto and Kilian Bielitza coming on for Hartmann. However, these changes were not enough to turn the tide.

Rödinghausen had more corners in the first half hour of the game, putting the WSV under pressure. The live ticker for the match can be found here!.

The WSV will look to bounce back when they face Bezirksligist TSV Krefeld-Bockum in the next round of the Niederrheinpokal on Wednesday. The Bergisch side plays at Borussia Dortmund's U23 on the following Sunday (17th August) at 2 PM in the league. The kick-off for the next match is at 7:30 PM at the Stadion am Zoo.

Despite the disappointing result, the WSV can take solace in the fact that they were missing ten players, including Jeff-Denis Fehr who dropped out just before kick-off. The identity of the first goal scorer for Rödinghausen remains unknown, as the available data does not provide this information.

The first goal for Rödinghausen, originating from a distance, was scored by their former WSV player Tim Corsten in the 17th minute. In the heat of the European-leagues competition, the WSV will encounter TSV Krefeld-Bockum in the next round of the Niederrheinpokal, aiming to bounce back from their disappointing 0-4 loss to Rödinghausen.
