Struggling Newspaper Team Portrayed in Trailer for 'The Paper': Cast Includes Oscar Martinez, Formerly of 'The Office'
The much-anticipated mockumentary comedy series, "The Paper," is set to make its debut on Peacock on September 4, 2025. This new series, hailing from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is an offshoot of NBC's hit sitcom "The Office."
"The Paper" follows the staff of a struggling Midwestern newspaper, The Toledo Truth Teller, as they strive to make a comeback. The newspaper shares office space with a toilet paper company, adding an interesting twist to the storyline.
The main character in "The Paper" is an ambitious journalist named Ned Sampson, played by Domhnall Gleeson. Ned is not new to the journalism world, as he is the main character in the series. Other principal cast members include Sabrina Impacciatore, who portrays the no-nonsense managing editor of The Truth Teller, and Oscar Nuñez, known for his role in "The Office."
The newsroom ensemble is rounded out by Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. These staffers, some of whom have limited journalism experience, have relied on clickbait stories and pre-written articles licensed from the Associated Press in the past.
In addition to the main cast, several guest stars appear in "The Paper," including Eric Rahill, Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Mo Welch, Allan Havey, Duane Shepard Sr., Nate Jackson, and Nancy Lenehan.
"The Paper" is co-created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, who also serve as showrunners, executive producers, and writers for the series. The original creators of "The Office," Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas, are also executive producers for "The Paper."
If you're a fan of "The Office" or just enjoy a good mockumentary comedy, be sure to tune in to "The Paper" on Peacock starting September 4. The trailer for the series is already available for viewing, giving you a sneak peek into the world of The Toledo Truth Teller.
