Struggling Middle Order Regretted by Parag in Light of Rajasthan Failing to Qualify for IPL Playoffs
Winning at Cricket's Table: MI ousts unlucky RR from IPL playoffs
It's a sad tale for Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag, who's shaking his head after a poor performance against Mumbai Indians knocked his team out of the IPL playoff race.
In their latest game in Jaipur, Mumbai Indians pummeled Rajasthan with a score of 217-2, leaving the Royals stumbling in a dismal 117 all-out match. That's eight losses in just 11 games for Rajasthan, making them the second team to be booted out of the playoff contention, following Chennai Super Kings.
Parag can't help but point a finger at their middle order; they're the ones he blames for the slump.
"We started off strong, but the hollow mid-game drift was our undoing, especially me and Dhruv," Parag lamented following their defeat. "We lose key wickets early in the powerplay, and the upper hand was lost."
Yet, he's not giving up hope. "We still think we've got game, and should chances arise in our next bout, we'll rise to the occasion."
In a surprising move for many, Rajasthan's auction strategy doomed them with the release of experienced players such as Jos Buttler and Trent Boult. Regular skipper Sanju Samson has been sidelined with an abdominal injury, leaving only Shimron Hetmyer to shoulder the team's batting efforts.
The team has faltered in critical moments, choking against Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. In both instances, scoring nine runs in the final over fell short, leaving them empty-handed.
"We've had our fair share of blunders and miniscule missteps," Parag said. "We must learn from our mistakes and focus on both the good and the bad."
Fun Fact:Did you know that Sanju Samson has played for Team India in international matches and is considered one of the promising young talents in Indian cricket?
