Struggling La Mirada Football Team Unable to Deliver Complete Performance, Suffers Loss Against La Habra in Week Four Game

La Mirada High School Basketball Gets New Coach, College Football Team Suffers Fifth Loss

In sports news, Lucas Mealy has been appointed as the new coach of the La Mirada High School boys' basketball team, set to take charge in the upcoming season. However, the college football team is facing a tough time, having lost their fifth game in a row, this time to La Habra High, with a score of 48-21.

The football team's defense has been a concern, as they have allowed at least 38 points in their last three losses. In the game against La Habra, the Highlanders scored on all six of their first half possessions, a season high first half deficit for the Matadores.

The Matadores were coming off a 29-7 win at Long Beach Jordan High in which Jordan Lauago scored once in each quarter. But Lauago's impressive form could not prevent the loss to La Habra. He started the scoring for La Mirada with a 60-yard run for the first touchdown.

La Habra's Kevika Martinez scored the first touchdown of the game for them, on an eight-yard run. Bobby Brooks followed suit with a five-yard run for another touchdown.

Aaron Castro caught six passes for 69 yards, while D.J. Mitchell and Kenneth Saucedo combined to complete five passes for 74 yards in the first quarter. Saucedo was particularly impressive, going six of six passing for 67 yards and having five carries for 82 yards.

The Highlanders had over 460 yards on offense, with most coming from Martinez, Mitchell, Saucedo, and Saucedo.

La Mirada will need to win at least three football games to assure themselves of third place in their league. They will host Downey High, the only team in their league with four wins this season, following the bye week.

Coach Mealy expressed concern about his team's performance in the first half, particularly the football game against La Habra. He will be hoping that the new basketball season will bring a change in fortune for the football team.

Senior transfers Drew Cobos and Tuiono Tuifua will be eligible to play for La Mirada once they return to action, and they are expected to help strengthen the backfield.

The Matadores will be aiming to break their losing streak when they face Downey High. Until then, they will be looking to learn from their mistakes and improve their performance.
