Clemson and Syracuse Prepare for High-Stakes Showdown

Syracuse and Clemson are set to face off in a highly anticipated matchup this Saturday, with the underdog Orange looking to pull off an upset against the Tigers. Despite Syracuse's recent win against Colgate, they are still considered more than two touchdown underdogs against Clemson.

The Tigers, who began the season ranked No. 4 in the nation, have struggled in recent weeks, losing to LSU and Georgia Tech. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney acknowledged the team's struggles, stating that they are still searching for a complete game of "complementary football."

Syracuse coach Fran Brown, on the other hand, remains undeterred by the odds. In a nod to the high-stakes nature of the matchup, Brown compared the situation to a recent high-profile boxing match, referencing Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. "I don't care what Vegas says," Brown declared.

Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli leads the nation in passing yards (1,072) and had a 382-yard, five-touchdown performance in the previous game against Colgate. Darrell Gill Jr., a player for Syracuse, also shone in that game, with six catches for 152 yards and two scores.

Clemson's offensive performance has been mixed, with quarterback Cade Klubnik throwing a 73-yard touchdown pass but also finishing with 15 completions out of 26 attempts, 207 yards, an interception, and a fumble. The Tigers' defense, meanwhile, struggled against Georgia Tech, allowing the Yellow Jackets to convert 8 out of 15 third-down opportunities. The latest game was lost due to a 55-yard field goal by Georgia Tech at the final buzzer.

The upcoming game between Clemson and Syracuse is scheduled as a home date for Clemson. Despite their six-game winning streak against Syracuse, the Tigers will face a determined Orange team looking to make a statement. Syracuse (2-1, 0-0) is coming off a 66-24 win over Colgate after a season-opening loss against Tennessee and a close victory versus UConn.

The all-time series between Clemson and Syracuse stands at 10-2 in favour of the Tigers, with Syracuse yet to win a game on the road against Clemson (0-5). The Tigers will be hoping to resurrect their season with this game against Syracuse, while the Orange will be aiming to make history.

This promises to be an exciting game, with both teams looking to prove their worth. As coach Brown said, "It's time to fight."
