Struggling Box Office Earnings for Dhadak 2 on Day 4: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's Movie, Despite Positive Critiques, Gathers Minimal Revenue
In the bustling world of Bollywood, the latest release, Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, opened on August 1, 2025, with a promising start of ₹3.65 crore on Day 1. The romantic drama, which is the spiritual sequel of the 2018 film Dhadak, received good reviews for its portrayal of caste-based discrimination in Indian society. However, its box office performance has been modest, underperforming compared to recent releases.
During its opening weekend, Dhadak 2 managed to collect approximately ₹11.97 crore. By the end of its first week, the film had earned approximately ₹15-16 crore net in India. Yet, the film struggled to maintain growth during weekdays, with Day 6 collections dropping to ₹1 crore—the lowest for the film so far.
In stark contrast, other contemporary releases like Son of Sardaar 2 and Mahavatar Narsimha have outperformed Dhadak 2’s box office momentum. The action-packed Son of Sardaar 2 collected Rs 24.75 crore in its first weekend, but saw a dip on its first Monday, earning just Rs 2.50 crore. Despite this, the film managed to recover, suggesting a stronger appeal among audiences.
Mahavatar Narsimha, an animation film directed by Ashwin Kumar, has been a blockbuster, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in India and becoming the highest-grossing animation film in the country.
The underperformance of Dhadak 2 can be attributed to its inability to capitalize on promotions such as discount offers and weekdays, reflected in its modest total collections around ₹15-16 crore net after a week. Despite positive reviews, the film has failed to capture a larger audience, making it clear that it faced stiffer competition in the crowded Bollywood landscape of August 2025.
