Malaki Starks bagged the ultimate combo during the draft: being a first-round pick without ending up on a lackluster team. Sure, being a top twenty selection comes with its glory, but it often lands players on mediocre squads. Thankfully, that didn't happen to Starks, who now calls a potential Super Bowl contender home.

Starks and Goodell

At the tail-end of last month, the Baltimore Ravens picked up Starks with the 27th pick in the first round. Two seasons ago, these guys were marching towards the AFC Championship. Last season, they were agonizingly close. This year? Similar goes for the Ravens, as long as MVP candidate Lamar Jackson remains at the helm.

Starks shared one concern about the leap from college to the pros: "There are a lot of rules that are drastically different than college," he revealed in an interview with Digital. He's getting used to the field dimensions and re-learning all the rules to avoid unnecessary penalties.

Starks in action

Despite the learning curve, Starks has an experienced group of players to learn from. He was part of a championship-winning team for years at the University of Georgia. Recently, he also participated in the Laundry Games alongside Spice Adams and fellow draftee Matthew Golden. "We had a laundry thing on our heads and had to balance it walking back and forth," Starks joked. "I got to rub it in Matthew's face because he couldn't do it."

Press Conference

While expectations are high for Starks given the Ravens' reputation, coming from Georgia, he's well-acquainted with such pressure. "It's the standard that the organization has and runs their business," he explained. "I'm excited to come into this organization and learn from the older guys and understand what it means to play like a Raven."

Also in rise: the Philadelphia Eagles. They've snatched up some promising players and are shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with. But one thing's for certain - the NFL season will be filled with plenty of thrills and spills!
