A police officer from the Dresden Police Directorate has been removed from the service following critical remarks and a call for a "Corona walk," as announced by the Dresden Administrative Court. The decision was made due to the officer's posts on social networks, which were considered a violation of the trust required for the exercise of his office.

The officer's posts were deemed to question the political system of the Federal Republic of Germany and to criticise the then valid corona protection regulations. His continued posts, including the call for the circumvention of corona regulations, led to the loss of trust necessary for the exercise of his office.

It is important to note that this is not the first time the officer has faced disciplinary action for similar posts on social media. The incident occurred in April 2020.

The Disciplinary Chamber of the Dresden Administrative Court made the decision to remove the officer. However, the officer has the right to appeal within one month to the Higher Administrative Court of Saxony. The appeal process will be handled by this court.

The officer's employer, the Free State of Saxony, accused him of not being prepared to enforce applicable law that he did not approve of. The officer's posts on social networks were seen as an expression of his unwillingness to enforce applicable law.

As of now, the officer's removal from service is not final, and further developments will be determined during the appeal process. The public is encouraged to stay informed about updates regarding this matter.

  1. The officer's continued posts, including comments on politics and general-news, had led to his removal from service due to the perceived breach of trust.
  2. The officer's posts, which included criticism of the corona protection regulations and crime-and-justice issues, had resulted in discipline actions and an ongoing appeal process.
