Strikes in Southern Lebanon by Israel result in two casualties

📣 Hear this, folks! The tense ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon's backyard is on shaky ground after a recent string of Israeli attacks. Here's the lowdown:

On a gloomy Tuesday, two dudes were whacked in a Lebanese village close to the Israeli border following an Israeli strike on a local drone that bombed the village of Chebaa. The casualties? Two deaths and one injury.

This raid comes hot on the heels of Israeli air raids on June 5, targeting Beirut's southern suburbs, a known stronghold for pro-Iranian Hezbollah. These strikes were the most aggressive since the truce was established on November 27, 2024.

But hang on, that's not all! According to the Health Ministry, the dead were a father and son, while his second son miraculously survived with injuries. Israel had previously threatened to continue its attacks until Hezbollah is disarmed, a day after the aforementioned strikes that saw nine buildings biting the dust, as per the Islamic movement.

The Israeli army boasted that they had obliterated Hezbollah's underground drone production sites and storage facilities for their air unit. However, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun branded the strike a brazen violation of the truce. Israel's aggression persists despite the ceasefire that ended a yearlong conflict, including two months of intense war with Hezbollah.

Under the truce, Hezbollah fighters were supposed to retreat north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the Israeli border, and dismantle their military installations south of this line. In contrast, Israel was expected to withdraw all troops from Lebanon, but they kept five strategic positions along the border.

Now, let's dig a little deeper. The current state of affairs is laced with tension, following a series of Israeli operations against Hezbollah since late May 2025. These actions follow Israel's broader effort to counter Hezbollah's presence in Lebanon. Despite Hezbollah's UAV prowess, Israel targeted their production sites on June 5. Yet, these efforts didn't cripple Hezbollah's UAV fleet, with Iran supporting its rebuilding. Both sides have been accused of violating the truce, with tensions continually flaring up. So, while a truce is in place, the ground situation remains volatile, with both sides consistently engaging in military activities and strategic maneuvers.

Politics surrounding war-and-conflicts, particularly the tense ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, have remained a topic of general news since the truce was established in 2024. The recent Israeli attacks on Hezbollah have not only targeted drone production sites but also escalated to air raids, causing casualties and violating the agreed truce terms.
