Strict Grill Restrictions in Bochum: Many Ignore the Regulations

The city of Bochum uses the Grassland Fire Index as an indicator to determine the risk of grass fires due to barbecuing. If the index reaches level three, public barbecuing is immediately prohibited. The increased fire risk on hot and dry days is the primary reason for the patrols in Bochum.
The Bochum city spokesperson is not surprised by the many warnings issued due to the newness of the rules. They attribute the high number of instances of non-compliance to a lack of awareness about the ban's specifics.
